What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, drug-free therapeutic approach that helps the brain self-regulate more efficiently. It's a specialized form of brain training that focuses specifically on brain activity, providing real-time information about your brainwave patterns and neural regulation states.
During a neurofeedback session, sensors are gently placed on your scalp to measure electrical activity produced by your brain. This activity is processed through a computer then presented back to the brain via auditory, tactile and visual feedback utilizing engaging and entertaining movies, video games, or relaxing visuals, allowing your brain to self-observe how your brain is functioning in real-time. Through visual, tactile, and auditory feedback, your brain learns to recognize and adjust its patterns toward more optimal functioning, stabilization, and maintaining healthy regulated neurological states.

4 minute video by Kurt Othmer briefly describing neurofeedback.
Neurofeedback works by leveraging the brain's natural ability to change and adapt—a property known as neuroplasticity. With consistent training, these positive changes can become permanent, leading to lasting improvements in cognitive function, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.
